Everyone longs to have a home. We wish to go back home whenever we are working far, on a long trip or on a vacation. It feels good to be home-“Home Sweet Home.” Home is the place where our spirits can run free to be ourselves without being judged. When I think of home, I think of a place where love is overflowing. It is where we are accepted, affirmed, forgiven and healed from the wounds of life. I always long to be home with the who love me unconditionally.

I am also aware that this home here on earth is just temporary. Our permanent home is with God in eternity. With this realization, I am led to stop worrying about “having it all.” It is therefore imperative that I don’t get attached to material things that come and go. These includes achievements that would lead to honor and fame, wealth that would lead to pride and power. I believe that as we follow Christ we have to “let go of our cravings for titles, achievements and material things. Believe me these temptations can make our journey towards God burdensome. As St. Paul in 2Corinthians 4:18 said: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary but what is useen is eternal.”

It’s about time that we focus our gaze on the things that belong to God rather than be busy with things that are fleeting and temporary.
